EIT & LST
A $52 Local Services Tax (LST) is levied by the Township upon individuals engaging in an occupation within the municipality. The employer shall deduct the tax evenly from employee paychecks throughout the year for all employees whose total earned income and net profits from all sources within the township is greater than $12,000.
A 0.5% Earned Income Tax (EIT) is levied as a tax on individual gross earned income / compensation and net profits. The tax is based on the taxpayer’s place of residence (not their place of employment). The EIT is separate from the Pennsylvania personal income tax. In most cases, your employer already deducts the EIT from your regular paycheck.
Note: The EIT rate does not include taxes levied by the Lewisburg Area School District.
Tax Collector
The electors of East Buffalo Township elect one tax collector to serve for a term of four (4) years. The tax collector must reside in the Township and must have resided in the Township continuously for at least one year immediately preceding the election. The tax collector is responsible for the collection and reporting of township taxes levied. Interested residents are encouraged to run for office in the 2025 election.
If the electors fail to choose a tax collector, the Township Board of Supervisors is responsible for filling the position until the next municipal election.
