The East Buffalo Township Pedestrian and Bicycle Committee (EBT-PBC) was formed by the East Buffalo Township Board of Supervisors in September 2007 to promote the safety and availability of pedestrian and bicycle access in EBT.

Our main activities include:

  • Improving connections between homes and neighborhood amenities, including "Safe Routes to School",
  • Developing regional connectivity through routes like the Buffalo Valley Rail Trail,
  • Ensuring that decisions and ordinances that affect East Buffalo Township are attentive to pedestrian- and bicycle-related issues (including the Union County Comprehensive Plan adoption process),
  • Coordinating closely with the Board of Supervisors and providing periodic recommendations to the Board,
  • Educating all users of the road (drivers, joggers, cyclists, walkers) to act safely and be mindful of others around them, and
  • Partnering with other local organizations and institutions concerned with walkability and bikeability where we live.

Members (approved by the Board of Supervisors) meet monthly. Coming soon: links to the notes from our meetings.

2011 Fall River Road Holiday

Sunday Oct 2nd

Rain date is Oct 9.

East Buffalo Township will host a free community event on Sunday, Oct. 2, from 1 to 4 pm. Come and enjoy a 1-mile stretch of River Road in East Buffalo Township, between 7th St. and the south end of Lan Avon Dr. Car traffic will be redirected, allowing safe use of the road for non-motorized activities like walking, jogging, biking, rollerblading, and more. This is a great family-friendly event. Attendees are encouraged to walk or bike to the event, though limited parking is available. Contact info@LocalActionPA.org for more details. Please join us out on River Road!

The EBT-PBC extends special thanks to event sponsors: EBT Board of Supervisors, the Local Action Network of Central PA, and the Bucknell University Environmental Center.
